Fantasizing Love...
The
rain was pounding the earth. The thunder roared and lightning lit up the sky
every now and then. It was evening. Usually it would have had a pinkish glow to
it but today the sun was shrouded by the dark clouds. Yet it was not dark.
Shaurya looked at the sprawling Indragiri before him. Not a soul outside in the
rain! Everyone had taken shelter except him. He was seated on one of the high
terraces. He held up his face to the rain and closed his eyes. The rain drops
pattered on his bare upper torso and wet dhoti. But that did not bother him,
rather it was comforting.
She slid her hand into his. A smile appeared on his face and
he held her hand firmly. He turned and looked at her kohl-rimmed dove eyes.
Those sparkling enigmatic eyes! She was not bothered about the rain either. Her
lovely pink lips curved into a smile.
‘Stay with me please,’ he said deeply. She leaned closer and
rested her head on his shoulder.
‘I am not going anywhere,’ she said lovingly. Even in the
rain her hand felt warm in his grip.
‘You are lovely, my love…’ he whispered softly. She did not
say anything but he could feel her smile.
‘You will come with me, won’t you?’ he asked hesitantly.
‘I will come,’ she assured.
‘Am I doing the right thing?’
She did not reply. There was silence except for the
pattering rain drops.
‘Will you forgive me?’
‘Maybe,’ she said promptly.
‘Are you going to hate me for what I do?’
‘Yes I will,’ she said serenely. He was disappointed a
little.
‘Will you ever… fall in love with me?’ he asked with his
voice thick with emotion. She sat up straight and looked into his eyes.
‘Will I?’ she asked him doubtfully. He was quiet. There was
no way she could love him after all that he would do to her. He looked at her
in distress. She released her hand from his hold and placed it on his hard
chest. Her warm hand felt like fire on his cold chest. It was comforting.
‘Your heart is pounding. You are scared…’ she said softly.
‘I don’t want to lose you!’ he implored.
‘You won’t,’ she said, her hand still on his chest. He
pulled her closer. Her eyes widened in surprise but she did not protest. He
looked at her face, so close to his. Those eyes which he always loved, those
cheeks which he always wanted to touch and those lips which he longed to kiss!
He placed his hands on her cheeks. They were soft as a flower. Their faces were
just inches away. His breathing was heavy and so was hers. He could feel her
hot breath on his skin and smell her earthy fragrance.
‘I love you Veera…’ he said in a gravelly tone. He leaned in
closer to her and she closed her eyes. He closed his eyes taking in her
overwhelming fragrance…
The
lightning struck and the thunder roared! Shaurya opened his eyes. He looked
around, she was not there. The rain drops hit him hard and cold. It was not
dark and he could still see Indragiri below from the terrace. He let out a long
drawn breath. He pushed back the wet hair from his forehead.
It cannot be a dream. It felt so real!
A weird
pain was tugging at his heart. Right before the moment he opened his eyes, she
was with him or so it felt. He had not felt lonely at all. But now after
opening his eyes, the reality hit him hard and cold like the rain. With her,
the rain was comforting. Now every drop stung him with pain. It felt too real
to be a fantasy! Yet that was the truth. This was how he had started living
with her. Shaurya so badly wanted to be with her. That was the difference between
Veera and other women for him. Shaurya could see himself sharing his life with
Veera. He wanted a future, a life with her. He was ready to do anything to have
her in his life. Even if it meant pushing himself along with her into peril, he
would do it.
Shaurya
could no longer take the pain. He once again closed his eyes. After a few
moments his lips curved into a slight smile.
He could feel the warmth of her hand on his throbbing chest…
