IF YOU FAIL,
BE PROUD!!
I am certain that the
title will leave teachers, parents and nerds fuming at me. Nevertheless, I won’t
budge from my standpoint. February, March and April are the three most
terrifying months in a year for students until they complete 12th
std or pre-university course. Students who are pursuing under-graduation and
above are spared this anxiety to some extent. Thank god, I am a graduate now and
no longer a panic-stricken student! The amount of stress that the 10th
and 12th std students endure is unimaginable. It is indeed the 8th
wonder of the world that they don’t end up as lunatics in an asylum. Trust me,
most of them would at the least suffer from chronic depression, unfathomable aggression,
tendency to murder (definitely more than suicidal tendency!!), strong
desire to turn an ascetic, give up worldly pleasures(read securing a seat in
IIT, NIT, AIIMS etc.), escape from home, plan to make a bomb hoax call and many
more varying treacherous exam symptoms.
I have only three questions to
ask everyone who is not a part of this student community:
1. What did you do when
you were a student???
2. What is the topper of
your batch doing now in life?
3. What happened to your
batch-mate who had scored the least?
Once you make an effort
to honestly answer the above questions, you will understand what it feels like
to be a student. I have come across many class toppers as well as students who
flunked in their exams. Five years after finishing 2nd PUC almost
all of us are at the same crossroads in life. Some are working and some are
pursuing post-graduation, while some exceptional ones are chasing their dreams.
No matter what we chose, each one of us is still fighting our own battles. If anyone
tells you that 12th std is the most crucial part of your life, it is
nothing but the most atrocious lie in the world! Your struggle will not end
once you find yourself in a reputed college or otherwise. You will still come
across many situations where you will be torn between decisions. If you feel
exams are the biggest catastrophe in life, then it only means that you have not
yet begun life! I really pity people who have not failed in exams because they certainly
lost an opportunity to improve themselves. Success is only a scorecard, whereas
failure is a treasure of knowledge. You can only exhibit your success but you will
always learn something vital from failure. Of course, if your only aim is to
find a comfortable job and earn a handsome salary, then please go ahead and
lose sleep and appetite over exams. Otherwise, put in your best efforts without
trying to kill yourself and don’t let those marks disappoint you. Those numbers
are literally not worth the heartache! After some years you will laugh at
yourself for having given them so much significance. The love of your life will
not give a damn about how much you scored in Physics or Chemistry. Neither will
you remember your marks scored in Field theory or Microbiology!
The only thing worth
losing your sleep for is your dream, your passion. Sometimes you try to chase
your dreams only when you fail in exams. You should be proud if you fail because
you will be brave enough to face the criticism of this world and give yourself
a chance at betterment. It will make you a stronger person! Unfortunately, if
you fare well in your exams, you will be pushed into some course which people
think you are capable of and you will quite easily give up on your passion. There
can never be a bigger tragedy than forswearing your dreams because you will not
forgive yourself ever for such felony.
Exams don’t mean the end
of the world because if they did, Homo sapiens would have been extinct along
with Dinosaurs and Dodos! Don’t forget that there is always life after exam
results J
Failure is just another chance
to prove that you can do better…
Very encouraging :)
